Clinical Services

Overview

The Department of Anesthesiology provides all types of anesthesia services for patients at Stony Brook University Medical Center, including general, regional and monitored anesthesia care, in addition to critical care services, as indicated. The department encompasses a number of clinical divisions and specialized sections as outlined below:

• Ambulatory Anesthesia / Office-Based Anesthesia
• Cardiac Anesthesia
• General Anesthesia
• Neuro Anesthesia
• Obstetric Anesthesia
• Orthopedic / Plastic Anesthesia
• Out-of-Operating Room Anesthesia
• Pediatric Anesthesia
• Urologic / Gynecologic Anesthesia

Collectively, these divisions and specialized clinical sections provide inpatient and outpatient services to the community utilizing an anesthesia care team approach throughout each patient's encounter, since it provides the most comprehensive quality patient care and safety. Coordinated programs of the Department of Anesthesia also include, but are not limited to the following:
